Empower your Purpose to Raise Your Vibes

What Is Indigo Energy?

Since 2005 I have been writing about Indigos, a topic I know well as someone who holds this energetic imprint and as the mother of several Indigo children. While it is not a new energy, it has come to the forefront in the last thirty years as we have evolved enough to create space for it to express itself more fully. It is the energy of change and truth, of throwing off old, restrictive and limited systems to allow for expansion, and greater self expression, awareness, and empowerment. Indigo energy is the force for change in the world but it isn’t always the force of change. It challenges us to be in our truth while revealing the untruths of all that we hold to be true.  They are our teachers, here to teach us what we have forgotten by showing us how it isn’t working for us.

Indigo energy cannot accept the status quo although they don’t always know how to change it. They have the ideas, but not the follow through. They have passion but lack confidence. They are talented but are shy and deeply sensitive to judgment and criticism. They are deeply impacted by what they see as unfairness, lack of compassion and kindness, domination and control in the world but often feel helpless before it, even though they have the talent, commitment, and beliefs to change it. They believe in others but do not always believe in themselves. So many of them live in silent agony, heartbroken over the condition of humanity and wonder why no one sees what they see or feels what they feel.

Indigo children, born in the 1980s, and adults, born many generations prior, all share the same commitment to bringing change to the world. The younger generation has succeeded in changing the social paradigms, starting with themselves. They are the tattooed, non-GMO vegetarians, child geniuses, young artists, musicians, poets and writers whose skill we find amazing, insightful, wise and at times disturbing. Indigos challenge us to step beyond our fears, to open our hearts and speak up with the words they can encourage in others but are not always willing to speak for themselves.

And when the world breaks their hearts too often, many commit suicide,  slip into the numbing world of addictions to escape from the thoughts and feelings they can no longer embrace, or hide their gifts and talents behind an ‘I don’t care and won’t participate’ attitude. Yet they are the change the world needs and their path will continue to propel us into a more loving, kinder, gentler and powerful world where our gifts are celebrated and our differences no longer matter. The Indigo energy is our invitation to move from human into divine, not by trying to be holy but by being wholly into who we are as individuals and the family of humanity, embracing our divinity as we move from being in-human to being spiritual humans.

  1. Dear Jennifer,

I really enjoyed reading your words above. I recently was told that I have indigo energy, so it all makes sense to me now. Three years ago an orange flame spirit visited me. It looked like a flame in a fire and it felt very clean and holy and emitted love and kindness. Since then I have become more spiritual, but I have always thought the Universe is powerful. I guess I just wanted to share that with you as I keep that mostly to myself. May the Cosmos shine it’s light on you and through you,Jennifer. Best wishes, Wayne
